Steel Quality Spec

Steel Quality Spec

(OP)
Hello, we are quoting a bolt/bushing project and the steel quality spec is:

1,4057 X 17CrNi16-2

1 - What do the terms mean?
2 - Do you know what the U.S. equivalent steel would be?

thanks...dw

RE: Steel Quality Spec

1,4057 is the Werkstoffnummer, a German material designation

X 17CrNi16-2 is a basic chemical composition (in mass percent): 0.17 carbon, 16 chromium, 2 nickel

AISI Type 431 Stainless Steel is similar.

Regards,

Cory
