Motor design standards - Inrush and Voltage sag
(OP)
I'm designing a 15KW 2-pole polyphase induction motor to run on mobile equipment throughout Europe. The motor will of course be designed to NEMA/IEC standards and will start DOL - giving approx 200A peak over the first 500ms. However is there another limitation on the max inrush that I/the grid supply can tolerate at startup? What's the allowable voltage sag?
Assuming that it will run on a 32A three phase service - then the only limiting factor at startup would be the trip class of the utility's breaker (In this case I am assumming class C)??
