Windows Professional x64 Memory

Hi All,

Is it necessary to use the /3Gb switch when running Windows Professional 64? Or can Windows figure out how much memory to use. I currently have 4Gb of Ram.

Cheers

Specs, Intel Pentium M 2.16 Mhz
SW 2007 R2.2
1.5 Gb Ram
NVidia GE Force GO 6800 256Mb

RE: Windows Professional x64 Memory

No, 64bit is capable of handling 32Gb of RAM

RE: Windows Professional x64 Memory

The /3GB switch should NOT be used with x64.
It could be detrimental to the performance by actually restricting the OSs ability to access the RAM.

cheers

Thanks guys.

I'll have some benchmark tests comparing SW 64 and SW 32 later today.
