Recalibration/Reranging of Flow DP Tx

Recalibration/Reranging of Flow DP Tx

Recalibration/Reranging of Flow DP Tx

(OP)
Hi guys.I'm facing a problem with a Flow DP Tx.Currently, the calibration range is 0-850m3/h (0-71kPa).But it gives an over range reading up to 1199m3/h.

The problem is now the process dept wants this tx to be able to read up to 1400m3/h (Changed new pump). The datasheet indicates that the adjustable range of the orifice plate is 112 kPa.Can a recalibration be done to read up to 1400m3/h without changing the orifice plate?

RE: Recalibration/Reranging of Flow DP Tx

Roughly, 112kPa corresponds to (112/71)1/2*850 = 1067m3/hr. So, not possible.

RE: Recalibration/Reranging of Flow DP Tx

Your flow range is 0-850m3/h  based upon a pressure differential of 0-71kPa (285"WC). This is already a high differential for orifice measurement.  The transmitter can be ranged up to 112 kPa (450"WC). This is a very high range for orifice flow measurement.

You need to change something.  You could change to a higher range transmitter, change the plate, change the piping or change the measurement technology.
