Spray Model

Spray Model

Does anyone have any tricks up their sleeve that could help me model a fluid spray stream?
I need to get a pretty picture of fuel spraying out of a fuel injector.  Any tips would be greatly 'preciated.

RE: Spray Model

Try this:
1. Make a feature that represents the spray pattern, such as a cone.
2. Make it transparent or semitransparent and play with its color to get close to what you want.
3. Select the surface of this feature and pick a texture to simluate the droplets.

You should be able to do this as a feature of a part, or you might want to model it as its own part and use it in an assembly with the injector.

RE: Spray Model

If you do what Updraft said (and model as it's own body--part or otherwise), that should work well.  Use PhotoWorks to create a rendering so you can adjust the material and final image with fine-tuned controls (well, sort of).  If you know what you're doing in PhotoWorks, you can get some excellent results.

Thanks for the replies, guys.  I already did the cone previously in order to get my component spacing, lighting, etc. down.

I was more curious if anyone had a fast way to make a more non-uniform spray of globs and squirts (engineering terms);)

RE: Spray Model

Just make some obscure surface models in a multi-body part... that would be the fastest way to make it... I don't think you can really find anything that can be used easily on any model design... I think it would be a decent model to make... not to hard if you have some surface abilities.

RE: Spray Model

Use Photoshop to add it to a rendered image later (fast, non-uniform).

Thanks, All.  Looks like I've got a little putzing around to do...
