allowable compressive stress for tube (TEMA Model)

allowable compressive stress for tube (TEMA Model)

allowable compressive stress for tube (TEMA Model)

(OP)
Hello, can anybody confirm my understanding below.

in TEMA Eight Edition, RCB-7.24 (pg69), there was a note (end of RCB-7.24) stated 'the allowable tube compressive stress shall be limited to the smaller of the code allowable stress in tension for the tube material at the design metal temperature OR the calculated value of Sc', thus i was thinking that was that TEMA allow we chose the allowable compressive stress for tube. The code allowable stress in tension generally will be greater than calculated Sc. (i'll chose the greater one of course if i allow to do so)

Thanks in advance

RE: allowable compressive stress for tube (TEMA Model)

Sure you are not allowed to use the greater of the two.
Can you rephrase your question? Not sure to understand what your doubt is.
