HSS punching shear check

I've misplaced my HSS connections guide and need to wrap up a design ASAP.  I was wondering if anyone would care to post the relative equations and limit states for a single plate in tension along the face of a rectangular HSS?  I guess I've now got a good reason to order the 13th edition.

RE: HSS punching shear check

Is the plate parallel to the HSS axis or perp to it?

Yeah, get the 13th Ed. Manual.  It's 4.00 lb of coolness.

RE: HSS punching shear check

(OP)
The plate is perpendicular to the axis.

RE: HSS punching shear check

this info is also available in the third edition LRFD 'blue book' in the back.

RE: HSS punching shear check

Excellent, Galambos, but now you've taken away his motivation to move on to bigger and better things, LOL!

Don't worry, the motivation is still there.  Thanks for the information.  It was helpful.
