what the heck is happening? Take a look at the file I uploaded. It's four screen shots of my task manager and the changes it goes through. It's meant to represent the problem I'm having with SW, but I can't get a screenshot of SW as I'm told I don't have enough available memory to create the bitmap. Basically, my graphics dump on me. My feature manager will go black, or things will be missing (i.e. check mark, 'x', etc). Funny thing is, I think it's because of the /3GB switch, but I'm not sure. Dell just replace the GC a couple of weeks ago, so I'm pretty sure it's not that. The file is here: http://www.mooload.com/new/file.php?file=/data/140507/1179147600/Problem.doc

RE: Does anyone know...

Were you having the same or similar problem before Dell replaced the card?

Have you reloaded the correct driver since replacing the card ... or experimented with different ones?

cheers

Yeah, I meant to mention that the card was replaced because of the same problems. I've also messed around with different drivers and made sure that I have the correct driver loaded.

RE: Does anyone know...

BTW, I get similar problems on my home machine, but I am using an old Radeon card so am not surprised.

I have only seen problems with the /3GB switch when the computer was running XP-SP1.

Did you remember to switch the GC application back to SW?

cheers

CBL,
I did remember to set the app to SW.
I've rebooted and gone with the 3GB switch turned off. I'll see what that does.

For whatever reason, not having the /3GB switch on is working. I haven't had any problems...yet.

RE: Does anyone know...

It almost sounds like you're having a memory management conflict between the graphic card and Windows with the /3GB switch enabled (odd).  I wonder if there's a way around that?

Any chance the card is getting hot (wouldn't correlate with the /3GB switch, but could be coincidental)?

I thought of the same thing, Jeff, but it doesn't seem to be getting overly hot. On top of that, it ended up going south the the /3GB switch off as well. My VAR found something in their archives about a BIOS update for a similar issue so I'm going to try that.
