There are various equations used with indentation technique to determine fracture toughness of ceramics. My question is: is there any universal equation for determining the fracture toughness if not, which those equations can be used for SiC?

some of these equations are as follows:
1. KIC = 0.016*(E/HV)^1/2*P/c^3/2) and
2. KIC = 0.4636*(P/a^1.5)*(E/Hv)^0.4*10^F]

RE: SiC

Determining toughness from what?  An indentation test?

Yes CoryPad, from an indentation test.
