Hello everybody,

What is the rule and limitations of chosing TR vector group. For example i will use a YNd transformer %6 Uk 33/0.4 kV but i don't know which vector group to choose. YND11 or 1 0r 5 ?

Thanking you in advance

RE: Transformer Choice

A standard final distribution transformer intended for general usage - industrial / commercial / domestic - will need a solid earth on the LV side neutral. Assuming this is the case then the vector group becomes Dyn *. Normally distribution transformers are Dyn11 unless there are specific reasons for using a non-standard type such as when required to to allow paralleling with another supply from a different part of the network or from a different voltage level (e.g. from the 11kV network).

Thanks Scotty

RE: Transformer Choice

Oops,

Should have said 'in the UK and most of Europe' regarding the earthing of the neutral. The US has some other methods of grounding which we normally don't see in Europe.
