Export STEP question

Export STEP question

Export STEP question

(OP)
Hi all,
I'm new to this forum.

Anyone know how to export an assembly from NX to STEP whilst retaining the assembly structure.
IE. currently if I export a STEP file of a known assembly, all the children show up in a single level as unparameterized features. (no components and sub assys).

I think IGES also behaves the same way.

thanks

RE: Export STEP question

It's been a while since I've done this but if I remeber correctly.
Make the assy the work part.
When you export step and you're prompted to pick objects just hit ok without selecting anyhting.
This should the select the assy as the item to export and create components.
I hope that's correct.

RE: Export STEP question

IGES does if run from the open assembly. If you use the external IGES program, then you get assembly structure.
