Amateur looking for help!

(OP)
Hi all,

I am trying to create an animation of a simple rack and pinion system.

I have discovered the tool for automatically creating spur/pinion gears but I'm having trouble with the rack. How can I draw a rack with teeth that match the pinion gear? Is there a tool for creating gear teeth upon a flat surface?

I have V19 and not much experience........

Cheers.

RE: Amateur looking for help!

Hi,

one simple solution might be:

- model the base strip as protrusion lenghth x height x width
- on a side of this model one tooth at one end and protrude it
  to the opposite side.

- use linear pattern to do the pattering of this tooth along
  the base strip
