A bom question

A bom question

A bom question

(OP)
i have a assembly with 3 configuration. with each following configuration i added new components. i am desiring to have 3 sheet with related configurations. BOMs of each sheet must show only the added components(not all components)and previous configuration name.

config A
parts  1,2,3
BOM    1,2,3

config B
parts  1,2,3,4,5
BOM    configA,4,5

Config C
parts  1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
BOM    configB,6,7,8

Can anybody explain me how to do???

thanks

with all respect

RE: A bom question

The best waywould be to use subassemblies instead of configs.

You can manyally edit the BOM to not display the other items.

RE: A bom question

From my experience from several companies, they should be separate part numbers with their own separate dwgs. Using different configs to show different parts/assys obviously can cause grief.
If your company requires you to do it this way, I suggest what TheTick wrote.

yes, i think my solution can be subassembly. Thank you TheTick and ctopher.. i will look for this..

when i started in business, i saw that they are using seperate  dwgs and separate partnumbers(seperate files) for showing a part's manufacturing operations..But i invited them to change this..

my first configA,
my parts are assembled and welded..
i need to show this assembly in a dwg..

configB
my assembly is Machining..so my parts have different dimensions and i will show them in seperate dwg.

configC,
iam inserting new components to my assembly.. and welding
so i need a seperate dwg..

****all dwgs are defining same part's manufacturing operations..
so all are same partnumber and there is ony an assembly file...

am i contemplating incorrect..???

RE: A bom question

If each stage of the assembly requires different assembly processes in different areas of the company, and is required to be tracked and stocked in those areas, then each stage should have its own number and matching drawing.

cheers
