B31.3, Brazed welded joints to be ''safeguarded''
B31.3, Brazed welded joints to be ''safeguarded''
(OP)
I'm presently designing a B31.3, 1/2'' nom. dia. piping containing hydrogen under normal fluid service. Some joints will be threaded and others will be brazed. For all brazed joints, according to 317.2, because hydrogen is flammable, every joints shall be ''safeguarded''. Can you explain me what to do to safeguard these joints (web links)?
Thanks in advance,

RE: B31.3, Brazed welded joints to be ''safeguarded''
Good question. Hydrogen is an explosive gas. A crack in the brazing could have explosive results, particularly if the gas can collect in ceiling space, or other containment area such as a confined space.
Check with the Fire Department, or Mines Safety Officers.
