SAFETY VALVE and FLOWMETER LOCATION

SAFETY VALVE and FLOWMETER LOCATION

SAFETY VALVE and FLOWMETER LOCATION

(OP)
ASME 1 2004 Edition - 2006 Addenda
Which should be the location of the Safety Valve in the steam flow path after the Superheater (superheated steam outlet) : Upstream  or  Downstream of the flowmeter ?

Remark : Nothing was found in the ASME 1 Interpretations (from Volume 1 till Volume 56) .

Sincerely,

A_Tsampalas

RE: SAFETY VALVE and FLOWMETER LOCATION

Locating the PSV after the flowmeter seems practical as the flow element likely requires a long upstream run.

RE: SAFETY VALVE and FLOWMETER LOCATION

The 3% inlet pressure drop limitation on the PSV may preclude putting it after the flowmeter.

Good luck,
Latexman
