Inspection Oval

Inspection Oval

For those that are using the inspection oval on dimensions in 2D drawings, is there a general note that should also be added?  What would be common to use?

While all features of a part are important, I've been asked to mark critical dims.

RE: Inspection Oval

First Article Inspection at my company takes a part from a new vendor, or a new part from any vendor, and inspects it to all specficiations on the drawing.  For any subsequent orders, only the oval dims are inspected.  This is supplemented by an inspection worksheet that records the inspection results for the lot.

That's the idea behind implementing these inspection ovals as well.  So there is no required general note in use?

RE: Inspection Oval

The inspect worksheets tell the inspecters what to inspect.  We use the ovals as quick eye catchers so they don't look all over the drawing for what they need.  For additional ad, we will also list zones on the worksheet.  We used to use a note like "Oval dimensions represent inspection points", but this practice has gone away in favor of just being explicit on the worksheet.
