Does anyone know of any software that will provide the bearing reactions in i, j, k components for a given hypoid pinion/gear setup?

RE: Hypoid support analysis

jkstoib,

Try KISSsoft.  They are a Swiss company.  Their gear software is the most sophisticated application commercially available.  It has a shaft and bearing function that will give you bearing loads & shaft deflections for a hypoid gear mesh.

Good luck.

RE: Hypoid support analysis

Why spend thousands of dollars on Kissoft if you can find the formulas in:

1. Dudley's Gear Handbook 1991 Dennis P. Townsend Editor pages 10.34 to 10.48

2. Gear Handbook, Darle w. Dudley 1962 pages 12.29 to 12.39

Thanks all for the suggestions.  I plan to aquire the reference items for my own use, as this application comes up rarely - but I will suggest the software applications to the department that deals with this on a regular basis.

Have a look in the Timken or SKF catalogs
