Please, information about electrical installation zone II

Hi,

We are working in a offshore project, we have a control room with a HVAC unit, this is in zone II. The HVAC unit is certificated and other equipment in the room is too.

We have some gas detector in the ducts of the HVAC and into the room, so if the HVAC unit fault or if the gas leak is > 20%LEL, the power to the non-Exx equipment is cut. On the other side we have fire-smoke dumpers in the inlet of the room.

Is it enought or I need a plus safe system? Are there some standard or guides for offshore electrical installation rooms in hazardous areas?

Thanks a lot.

RE: Please, information about electrical installation zone II

You need to shut down process at 40% of gas saturation. 20% is alarm only. maybe marine regulations are different than this but i doubt They all run under unified world standards so 90% of countries have been already changed to it.
