Interface measurement and RF Admittance probes

Interface measurement and RF Admittance probes

I am trying to find out the suitability of using RF Admittance probes to measure an oil/water interface. Main problem is that there are emulsions that sit at this interface level as well and I think I will end up measuring the emulsion/oil interface rather than the water/emulsion interface.

Has anyone any experience on using these probes to measure water/emulsion/oil interfaces?

RE: Interface measurement and RF Admittance probes

Contact Drexelbrook (www.drexelbrook.com). They have extensive knowledge on this application. I used to have a white paper on it, but can't find it.

Cat3347, Thanks for your advise will give it a look see...

RE: Interface measurement and RF Admittance probes

I put a Siemens CLS 500 probe in the bridle bypass for oil-water interface detection, and was amazed at how sensitive it was.  The adjustment allowed for ignoring the emulsion, but sensing the oil.  Go figure . . .

Delivery was an issue, 8, maybe 10 weeks to get the custom length) and whatever the process connection was, but this was 4, maybe 5 years ago.
