Makind Sub-Assemblies stand out in drawings?

Makind Sub-Assemblies stand out in drawings?

Makind Sub-Assemblies stand out in drawings?

(OP)
I have a complicated assembly.  I would like to make a drawing of a sub assembly, and have it stand out.  It would be good if I could make the overall assembly transparent and the subassembly opaque or something in the drawing.

Anyone have an idea of how to do this?

Thanks

Which release of Inventor are you using? There are different ways of going about this depending on which release you are using.

I'm using the latest release and we should be installing 2008 soon.

Thanks

If you open the BOM editor in the assembly, you can change all the parts, other than the ones you want to see "opaque", to "reference". This will make everything that is reference display as phantom lines.

Thanks.  I've made progress based on your suggestion, but the phantom lines are way too thick.  I thought the phantom lines must be on their own layer and that I could adjust their line weight, but it appears that they are on the same layer as the lines I want to stand out.

I can get the desired effect if I go through and select line by line and change the weights, but that would take all day.  Any further suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You might try changing the pen settings for the layer in question.
