Shear Rate Equation

Shear Rate Equation

Shear Rate Equation

(OP)
I haven't calculated this in a while and I can't find it in Perry's.  Does anyone have the equation to calcuate shear rate in an agitated vessel based on viscoisty, RPM, impeller size type, etc...This is a great site.

RE: Shear Rate Equation

Google is your friend.  Learn to use it effectively!

AICHE

Reference # 1 in the linked article above refers to an infamous non-Newtonian mixing article that may help you.  It is Metzner AB, Otto RE. Agitation of non-Newtonian fluids. AIChE J. 1957;3:3-10.

Good luck,
Latexman
