Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

(OP)
Dear members,

I have a confusion albiet a silly one,but anyway here goes:-

Can we use a same standard for valve as well as drill standard? Are there any standards which specifies both valve as well as drill standards? Thanks in anticipation.

Dear members,

My question is meant only for Butterfly valves only,Thanks in anticipation.

RE: Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

What do you mean by drill standards with respect to butterfly valves?

Thanks for your response TD2K,

What I meant was:-

Now for eg:- AWWA Standard is a valve standard and ANSI is a flange standard i.e you can have a butterfly valve with MULTIPLE drill(for flange connection) standards at a same time i.e ANSI,JIS5K,JIS10K but the valve is based on AWWA.My confusion here is who decides the final arrangement, the end user or the manufacturer?

RE: Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

I'm still not clear what you mean by multiple drill standards.  Does that mean you want some valves with ANSI 150 flanges, others with ANSI 300, others with JIS5K?

I don't have a copy of AWWA valve standards so this is purely my opinion.  But, if the vendor is set up to supply you with different flange sets (ANSI,JIS5K,JIS10K), I doubt there would be any problems.

I'd pose the question directly to them.

RE: Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

You can always ask your vendor to provide thr flanged valves drillrd to the specific flange standard you are using. It is not a problem for the valve manufacturer when the valve design conditions and flange ratings are matching.

RE: Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

awwa has a standard for the flanges - geenrally slip-on. i guess the gentlemen is referring to the bcd and the # of bolts on the flange. im assuming that the service is for water - mostly this is the application for awwa valve/flange specs. details of the diffrent dimension of the flanges (for diffeerwrn rating and facing)per API, ASME, MSS and AWWA can be found in Tube Turns catalog.

RE: Are there Different standards for valve & flanges?

No there are flange standards and that apply to all flanges. ASME B16.47, ASME B16.5, JIS 5 K, JIS 10 K, AWWA CLASS and then all the Din standards as well. I hope this answers your question. You have a Standard flange for a 3 Inch 150 LB pipe wich will comply to one of the standards as given. When you order it is important as you have a difference between your ASME B16.47 and B16.5 flange sizes.
