File open direct from PDMWorks Vault??

File open direct from PDMWorks Vault??

File open direct from PDMWorks Vault??

(OP)
In SW "Open" dialog box on the left side are some shortcuts including PDMWorks Vault, I have never used this method until this morning I open a file direct from the Vault and printed it, then closed it. But what if I wantd to work on the file? When I open a file direct from the PDMWorks Vault this way does this automatically "check it out"? What happens if I save the file?

thanks,
Tom

RE: File open direct from PDMWorks Vault??

I tried this out and it looks like PDMWorks automatically gives you ownership of the part. The problem with using this method is that you don't get an opportunity to pick where you want to save the local copy to. I've seen stability issues using this method to open files and it also seems to take longer. I steer users away from it.

Thanks Finethread, This is interesting. I didn't have a problem opening it, but I was wondering what happened when you saved the file. I guess its no different than any save as. But then you must check it back in the normal way.
