Cast iron resisting liquid zinc

Cast iron resisting liquid zinc

Cast iron resisting liquid zinc

(OP)
An ingot rotating distributor, wheel shaped is currently made in DI (sg )ferritic iron but it is corroded by liquid zinc supposed to be transferred to ingot molds. Any suggestion for a different cast iron or alternative material? Thanks

Julio

RE: Cast iron resisting liquid zinc

You can try flake graphite iron instead of SG iron for the application. What material is the ingot mold? Use the same material if possible.

RE: Cast iron resisting liquid zinc

Isn't Zn attack related to the Si content?  Don't they use low Si carbon steel for galv equip?
Maybe you need to look at those requirements.
