(OP)
Hi, In a situation when I am in a custom view and in zoom mode of an assembly, I want to click a surface to make it rotate the model normal (just for viewing the detail) to that surface without altering the X-Y orientation in the zoom view.  Sometimes it does, many times, it reorients the assembly in X-Y plane as well and show me the full view of the model. What is the right procedure to get what I want ? Thanks.

RE: Normal view

If you pre-select 2 faces, then click Normal...the first face will go normal to your screen and the second face/plane will orient to the top.
