Plywood Gusset Design

Does anyone know of a publication or any papers that give guidance on the design of a plywood gusset plate?

RE: Plywood Gusset Design

Contact the American Plywood Association (APA-EWS).  I have a copy of an old publication of theirs "Plywood Rigid Frames".  I also think I use to have one on using plywood gussets for trusses, also by the APA.

Midwest Plan Service has an old publication "Design for Glued Trusses".  That publication addresses the use of glued plywood gussests.

You also might check SlideRuler's web site.  Do a search on this forum for his posting.  He has put a lot of out of print publications on his web site.

I did a quick search on this forum, but only found one thread.  It also directed me to the APA website.  I wasn't able to find anything there, but did email someone about it.  What is sliderulera's website?

Also - the Search engine for Eng-tips can be tempermental at times.  Try the Google search to the right.

RE: Plywood Gusset Design

Refer to the 2001 ASD Supplement Book that comes with the 2001 NDS package.  It has everything you need to design the axial capacity of the panel.  Attachment to the panel is designed using the normal procedure in the NDS, find Z, apply factors, etc.
