German translation "nickel plating"

German translation "nickel plating"

German translation "nickel plating"

We are currently machining HRS details from prints that are in German. The following statement appears on all prints: Fertigteil chemisch vernickelt Schichtdicke 40 um. Flache 33.26 dm2. I have assumed the first statement to mean "chemical nickel plating, 40 micron thickness". I am having a hard time understanding the second sentence. The number does change with each detail. Could it be the area?

RE: German translation "nickel plating"

Yes, Flache means area.

Use dict.leo.org for translations, it is a very good online dictionary.

RE: German translation "nickel plating"

dm means dezimeter which is 1/10th of a meter.

So 1 dm2 is roundabout 1/9th sqarefoot.

The rest of the translation is correct.
