Hi,all!
I'm trying to perform a mesh of a hemisphere. First of all I'll try to describe how do I create it. I create a curve using "Arc3Point" with the points [0 0 0],[0 5 5] and [0 0 10]. This way I create a half circle with a centre on the Z axis. After that I create a surface by using the command "Revolve" by the axis Z(axis 3 in the program). The angle of revolution is 180. This way I get a surface of a hemisphere.
Then I try to do a meshing: when I use "paver" it works ok, but with "Isomesh" I get the following error:
" Surface 1 does not have a meshable shape" and then another message "fem_associate_elems_to_ep".
What is the problem.what do I do wrong,so Isomesh doesn't work?

Without getting into the theory; if its green then you can isomesh, if its purple then it paver (unless you split it into iso meshable parts - good practice).
If you want to know the theory why then let me know.

I've only been using Patran for a few weeks, so if this recommendation is too simplistic, then sorry! I've had similar trouble using extrusions. There is an option called "solid type" when you extrude or revolve where you can select "TetMeshable" or "IsoMeshable". That might help.

Another option is to refit the solid using edit --> solid --> refit. If it's not triparametric, it won't let you mesh it isometrically.

wmoonw, the geometry the OP is talking about does not lend itself to solid modelling, but shell type elements will give decent results.
