another B.O.M question.

another B.O.M question.

another B.O.M question.

(OP)
I don’t know how this is happening. I will insert my B.O.M., then do any adjustments then go about the drawing doing my work then the item #1, 2 and some times 3 will go away and the numbering will start from there. When I go to the B.O.M. contents my missing # will not be there and at the bottom of the list there will be spots that are blank that you cannot do any thing with. Please help. This is such a head ache.

RE: another B.O.M question.

What do you mean by "then do any adjustments"?

Which SW version and SP?

cheers
SW07-SP3.1
SW06-SP5.1

Change size of cells, hide or rearrange items

SW2007. What is "SP"

RE: another B.O.M question.

sorry sp2.0

RE: another B.O.M question.

Are you manually editing your BOM table...?

RE: another B.O.M question.

(OP)
If you mean changing the text no. I do change the order of items and sometimes I will add or delete a column. Some times I will change the text but the problem does not happen when I do this. It seems to happen when I am editing the drawing or after a rebuild.

RE: another B.O.M question.

Sounds like somehow the items are getting "deleted", but you have the "Keep Missing Items" option turned on in the BOM, hence the blank rows...do you also have the BOM set to follow assembly order?

Also, is your BOM linked to a particular drawing view?

RE: another B.O.M question.

(OP)
I do have keep missing items on and do have it set to follow assembly order. The items are not being deleted. They are still on the drawing and still have a balloon pointing to them. They just get removed from the BOM somehow. I will have to wait until it happens again in order to show what is going on.

RE: another B.O.M question.

(OP)
yes it is linked to a view

RE: another B.O.M question.

gatnact,
DO NOT modify the BOM tables at anytime if it's link to a view. You must drop the link if you do any edits or insert your own table into the drawing. If you need to add items to the link BOM's, they must be added to the last/end item automatically generated by SW. Manually inserted items or modifications will be wiped out every time doing rebuilds and asking for headaches.

RE: another B.O.M question.

(OP)
The items that are diapering are not manually inserted and are not modified.

RE: another B.O.M question.

Sounds almost like a config issue - does the assem you are showing have multiple configs?  I would check to see if the parts that are disappearing are suppressed or excluded from BOM in the config that's driving the BOM...if BOM is set to only display one config but you are switching configs in the view driving the BOM, BOM contents will also switch to match...

RE: another B.O.M question.

(OP)
there are no other config. I create BOM. Then, hide and move different items to where I need them. then I will go about the drawind adding DIM, section view, and other things that require no modification to the assem. and look at the BOM later to find the problem I'm having.
