Start up od Vestas V-19

(OP)
We installed a Vestas V-19 (100 kW turbine), and at the moment of the start up the fuses of the medium voltage line blown up. As far as I know, the generator first acts as a motor to accelerate the rotor. The problem happened at the moment of the connection of the generator as a motor, I think an inrush current. At that time the rotor had only 12 rpm (nominal rpm are 46). Does anyone have an idea of what could cause this problem or an experience to share?

Thanks.

RE: Start up od Vestas V-19

A starting inrush is normal.
Consider a soft start.
Contact Vespa for advice as to what starting surge to expect with their unit.
