Showing similar tasks in different projects together
Showing similar tasks in different projects together
(OP)
Hi all,
We have just started to use project here and we have the following setup:
Individual projects with the tasks for that project.
A master project which shows all the inidividual project together in it.
Each of the projects have the same tasks and we have three main ones of design, tooling and development.
In the master project file is it possible to group all the design tasks together to show just them so we can see the total design workload in a ghantt format? This also goes for the tooling and development.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Craig

RE: Showing similar tasks in different projects together
1. Open each of the individual projects and code the tasks to align with your phases (design, tooling and development).
2. To do this, insert the field Outline Code1 into your schedule.
3. Right click on this heading and then click on Customize Fields.
4. Click on Rename and type in Phase then OK.
5. Click on Define Code Mask, Click on dropdown and choose Characters, then OK
6. Click on Edit Lookup Table and insert the name of each phase on the left with a brief description on the right. Then Close, and finally OK.
7. Within your schedule, for each task, you will now need to choose the correct phase from the dropdown in the Phase field.
8. Within your master schedule you will need to insert the Outline Code1 field
This structure should allow you to group by phase across all projects.
Hope this helps!
