Power & Control cables - Hazardous area
Power & Control cables - Hazardous area
(OP)
Dear Folks,
I have come across some problems in present project?
I have following queries.
1)Is there any code that details about the placing of cables in Zone2 hazardous area?
2) What's the usual method of cabling in Zone2 area,
Can we go for cable tray?. if it is cable tray (to use on zone 2 area)
do we need to use fire proof cables?
or,
will normal XLPE (Cu/XLPE/LSF/SWA/LSF)serve the purpose?.
off course, it is clear that we should use duct bank at road crossings, parking areas etc. However, i am just looking at your opinions for cabling at zone 2 area.
3) Can we use Cable trench with removable top covers for series of pump house motors (11kv Fuel oil pump motors -3nos in a row)?
Or we should use only cable ducts / with pipe sleeves at entry of motor from undergournd as it is zone 2 area.
i greatly appreciate your suggestions..

RE: Power & Control cables - Hazardous area
No need for fire-retarding cable.
A good guide for cabling is BSEN5308
RE: Power & Control cables - Hazardous area
Can we use removable GI checker plates /covers on the top, or pre-cast concrete covers? (in these zone 2 areas.
which one is better, concret covers or GI/steel covers..
Thansk willip, I will see BSEN5308.
