FEA Modelling of a Uniform Elastic Foundation

FEA Modelling of a Uniform Elastic Foundation

(OP)
Hi

I need to model a concrete slab using STAAD and I am trying to get any info regarding the calculation of the soil rigidity K for my model. I was told it has something to do with Boussinesq but I haven't been able to find anything. Can you guys help me out please? Thanks in advance.

RE: FEA Modelling of a Uniform Elastic Foundation

Hi,

you might wanna use vertical spring constant / subgrade modulus (i.e. kN/m3). Check any Foundation Design books (i.e. by Bowles, by Das) for the analytical (elastic) and empirical solution.

good day,
sendy
