A252 Grade 3

A252 Grade 3

A252 Grade 3

(OP)
Our pipe supplier has cocked up and sent us A252 Gr3 piles and not the A53/Api5L pipe we ordered.

The supplier tells us that the A525 Gr3 is the same as we need but has not had a hydro test.

We can do a hydro in site.

Has anyone had this problem and/or seen it covered in B31 code case? We to convice the client to let us use this pipe.

thanks

RE: A252 Grade 3

Tell the client what happened, but DO NOT RECOMMEND that the client use the pipe.  The client (supposedly) wanted a pipe supplied with a mill hydro to avoid taking excess risk by having the pipe fail during a field hydro with associated cutout, repair, rework and other dantgers.  You are now going to recommend that the client approve the use of the pipe, possibly with the increased risk factor that just might cause it to fail during field hydro?  Not a whole lot of sense in that.  Why should you take the risk?

If I were the client, I would say, "If you do it, its on you ...mate."

It will be our risk that pipe may fail the hydro.

It our contract to supply the pipe and we have not way of getting the correct pipe in time.

RE: A252 Grade 3

If you are having difficulty in proving that the pipe is an equilavent then tell you supplier to
"send supporting documentation from mill or come and pick up the pipe due to not meeting spec"
