Engine lube pump

Engine lube pump

Engine lube pump

(OP)
Anyone who could describe me about lube oil pump, that is; directly coupled to engine shaft which could provide uninteruptible lube oil flow though its bearing. Does this configuration is reliable? What type of pump?
 Any good thoughts?

 Thanks..
