Basic Cosmos questions from new user

Basic Cosmos questions from new user

Hey folks, am a new user to COSMOS....have a couple of questions.  Appreciate your input.

Where is tab to change number of normal modes to solve?  Default is 5, I want more.
How do I get the remote mass/rigid element symbol to display itself?  I created a remote mass and it does not show up on the display.
Where is tab/input/popup window for entering G-to-mass conversion?  386 lb-sec^2/in or 9.81 N/sec^2

RE: Basic Cosmos questions from new user

All answers for CW 2007

1.  Right click on your frequency study and choose properties.  You can adjust the # of frequencies there.

2.  I'm not sure what error you are having.  You didn't actually hide the remote mass symbol did you?

3.  Can you clarify your question?  If you are talking about the input for a gravity load then it is in the properties of the gravity load.

Thank you badboggs...appreciate it.

I did find the tab to change frequencies.

Regarding remote mass: I'm not aware of having hid the symbol.  I created it according to the pulldown menus, but it never appeared on the screen display.  When I clicked "show", the only thing that highlighted was the edges I'd selected for the rigid element attachments.  It would be nice to verify graphically that the lumped mass is in the correct location.

Regarding G to mass conversion:  To calculate frequencies in normal modes, the English units must be in terms of lbs-mass and not lbs-force.  I generally put my material properties in terms of lbs-force/in^3 then use a G to mass conversion of 1/386.  Nastran and Ansys both have this switch, but I can't find it in Cosmos.  Although, when I did run the analysis, Cosmos must have applied the conversion automatically because the frequencies were correct.  I could see this might only be a problem if I entered material mass properties in terms of lbs-mass.
