What are major factors to be considered for selecting a control valve for Slug application in Oil & Gas Industry?

Slug, are you talking slug catcher level control valves

I dont think so - there are quite sucessfull installation where you can reduce are/or remove pipeline slugging (especially terrain induced slugging) by use of measurements and a controll valve.

Other products is a valve on the top of the riser that - while creating a permanent pressuredrop - also will increase the time that a liquid slug will need to "get into the separator" and thus the separator level control system will have time to react.

However Shell has had some sucess in two valve anti slug control - take a look at this presentation:
