Exporting assembly mates/annotation dims out to Excel

Exporting assembly mates/annotation dims out to Excel

Exporting assembly mates/annotation dims out to Excel

(OP)
I have a complex assembly with multiple linkages.  There are a few dimensions that drive design changes on the whole assembly, and there are a couple of components that drive the position of the whole assembly in the same way that motors would drive the assembly for real.

I would like to spit out various angles of key components to an excel sheet so that calculations can be driven by these angles.  Then the design-driving dimensions and the 'positioning-motor' components can be changed to optimize the design.

I've seen references to an "Excel To SolidWorks Link Template", but I cannot find that on the current SW website.  I saw a thread in this forum about it too, but that thread is closed.

Thanks,

Jay

RE: Exporting assembly mates/annotation dims out to Excel

The simplest way is to create a Design Table within the assy, and apply the driving calculations in it.

A DT can be saved as a separate Excel Table. Information from it can then be manipulated and imported back into the assy. But that just creates more steps, and unless you want to use that Excel table in multiple assemblies probably isn't worth it.
