ASME Code applicability
ASME Code applicability
(OP)
My level of knowledge of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code will show through in this post, and others. So, if anyone has some good resources on learning code issues (beyond simply reading it, or looking at code guides/handbooks) I would really like to know.
I'm trying to figure out a few things about applicability of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. For Section VIII Division I, U-1 and parts of UG give information on applicability. They do not seem complete though.
I'm having trouble figuring out how to classify a container with inner diameter greater than six inches. How does the code distinguish between vessels and pipe or piping accessories? Certainly not all piping of six inch or larger ID complies with vessel code.

RE: ASME Code applicability
I really don't understand this statement below;
My response to your question is simply review ASME B&PV Code, Div 1, U-1 Scope under the Introduction.

metengr,
I was only asking for further recources to clarify future questions on the code.
I've read U-1 but it doesn't seem to have a clear answer on whether or not I can use a 6" NPS Sch 10S pipe with reducers and screens to hold a zeolite for a temperature swing adsorber.

Murky. Yeah, that's how it looks here too.
doct9960,
It appears I need to do a better job with searching. No one seems to have a clear definition on the subject.
