(OP)
Can anyone give me direction to a source on uses of galvanized steel in concrete?  I know some work had been done evaluating galvanized rebar vs epoxy coated rebar, but I cannot seem to locate information on those results.  Seems to me with the widespread use of epoxy coated bars that something (expense, detrimental to concrete) must have made epoxy the favored protection.  I am looking at welded headed studs to be embedded into a precast concrete piece (for connection) and need to protect the exposed portion of the steel.  I would use galvanizing (due to no welds) if the embedded portion will not be detrimental to the concrete.  Thanks in advance.

RE: galvanized steel in concrete

Use of hot dip galvanized rebars is permitted by ACI 318 section 3.5.3.7.  Also see ASTM A767, Standard Specification for Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Steel Bars for Concrete Reinforcement.  You may also want to contact American Galvanizers Association at 720-554-0900 for more information.
