tubing end treatments in weldments

tubing end treatments in weldments

(OP)
Hi,

I have a question regarding weldments.  I have a structure made up of various size tubes.  Corners with the same size tubes, or at least two of the same size tubes and other smaller tubes, don’t pose a problem for me.  I can treat the corners in the normal fashion – miter the two largest tubes and then butt the smaller ones using the larger tubes as the trimming bodies.

However, when I have one large tube and other smaller ones, I can’t trim it.  I get an error asking me to check my selections.  See the image below.

In this case, how do I treat the corner so all the tubes are bird-mouthed (trimmed) like they would be in real life?

Thanks,

Kris

RE: tubing end treatments in weldments

Maybe create zero offset surfaces from the smaller tubes, knit them to create one surface and use that as a cutting tool.

cheers
