Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

the customer requested this:

A193 B7M/A167 2HM stud and nut combo, with the nut zinc plated. does this make sense?
the nut and bolt material do not match correct? can someone clarify why exaclty?

RE: Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

RE: Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

Think it's just a typo on the customer's part, A167 doesn't have a grade 2HM, that's a ferritic grade under A194.

RE: Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

cmn....

The customer is always right.....but frequently has typos

The most common nut used in my opinion, for an A193 B7M stud is an A194-2HM nut.

Other combinations may also be suitable......

Galling is sometimes a problem with stainless fasteners.

My opinion only

thanks guys, I do believe it was a typo and is a b7m stud. the hardware company however was not so sure they could quote that combination.

RE: Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

Check with your customer to see if it should be a B8M stud (316SS)

RE: Customer requirements regarding stud and nut combo

You don't zinc plate a stainless nut, or put a zinc plated nut onto a stainless stud - I think the mistake is that A167 and it's supposed to be a conventional A194 2HM nut.
