Bearing lockwasher source?
Bearing lockwasher source?
(OP)
Hi guys:
I have been buying bearing lockwashers for years from a local source. Well, now they have gone out of business and I can't find another source. Does anyone know of somewhere I can purchase these washers in small quantities?
The kind I'm talking about are the ones that look sort of like giant star washers. They have a bent tang on the inside that fits into a groove in the shaft. They mate with a bearing locknut that has four slots around its circumference. The nut is tightened against the inner race of the bearing and one of the outer tangs of the washer is bent into a nut slot and keeps the nut from coming off. They are an AFBMA standard item and go by "W-00" for the washers and "N-00" for the nuts.
Ironically McMaster-Carr has the nuts, but apparently not the washers, which I find strange. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I sent an e-mail to them to see if they have a distributor in my area. Thanks for the link.
Doesn't anyone in this group use these locknuts and washers? What other methods do you use to properly seat bearings on the shaft?

Our local vendor for a lot of this stuff is either Kaman or Motion Industries. Both are large companies that offices all over the place.
