External Bolting for NACE Equipment

External Bolting for NACE Equipment

External Bolting for NACE Equipment

(OP)
Hi,

I'm Xeros.

The equipment is in NACE Service and this equipment is inulated.

Is External Bolting applied NACE requirement?

I heard that wetted part must be applied NACE requirement but not-wetted part need not.

However, if the leakage occur in flange!!!!!
The NACE fluid could be contact with bolting material because leakage occured and equipment was in insulated condition.

In this case, shall the bolting material be applied the NACE requirement???

I appriciate to get your opinions and reference if present.

Regards,

RE: External Bolting for NACE Equipment

ISO 15156 Part 2, Clause A.2.2.4, page 22  You are fully correct in your assertion regarding flange leakage.

In addition to NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 requirements mentioned by Steve, you can find the similar requirements in NACE MR0103, para. 5.2 (Exposed Bolting).

RE: External Bolting for NACE Equipment

I thought it was kind of strange to have NACE bolts.  The bolts will be B-7M stamped for modified stress relieved.  The bolt manufacturer will take a batch of B-&'s and stress relieve them for a minor charge (Ha-Ha).

At one plant they even stress relieved all the 2" Angle iron used for the decking and hand rails.  I under stand they too the whole block on a 2650 HP intergal engine and ran it through the oven....

RE: External Bolting for NACE Equipment

There are a lot of people using B7M Teflon coated for applications such as your's.
