Applying unevenly distributed pressure

Applying unevenly distributed pressure

Applying unevenly distributed pressure

(OP)
Hi,

I'm applying an uneven pressure on a set of nodes.  The magnitude of the pressure is a function of a spatial coordinate.  I've defined the relationship between the pressure and the coordinate in a table.  I believe that this table is correct.

Yet, the pressure seems homogeniously destributed on the nodes.  What might cause this problem, and how can I fix it?  Is it not a bad idea to apply pressure on nodes?

RE: Applying unevenly distributed pressure

Tabular loadings require a coordinate system to be used as the reference for their load vs. position.  Take a look at the *dim command and ensure that you have ALL fields properly specified for the table (CSYS and type of loadings included).  Then, make sure that you have a local coordinate system defined for the loading and that it's properly positioned subsequent to applying the pressure.

Thanks Brian,

Something else have come up that I need to deal with, but I'll keep your post in mind when I look at the problem next time.
