minimum reinforcement for piles

minimum reinforcement for piles

minimum reinforcement for piles

(OP)
Hallo together,

for our current project (very weak soil!) we use bore piles with a lenght of 56m ! The structural calculation gives us a bending moment up to a depth of 30m. If we consider our piles as columns we have to provide a minimum reinforcement for the whole lenght acc. ACI. Is that really required ? We have estimated without such a minimum reinforcement and we didn“t take this in consideration during our bid stage !
Can somebody give me an advice where to find detailed informations ?

Thank you very much in advance !

MARTIN

RE: minimum reinforcement for piles

you need to give some more information:

what is the main type of loading? seismic, wind, dead, live, lateral or vertical?

What is it supporting?

how wide is the pier?

RE: minimum reinforcement for piles

One design that I have used for smaller drilled piles, (20M length by 600mm diameter), has a reinforcement cage in the top 40% and a single large rebar full length in the center.

RE: minimum reinforcement for piles

in my opinion
we can use min. rein. for columns in our codes
%0.8 or %1 is enough i think
important question is what percenrage is max.?
i think we can use max. %2 percantage or we have to use bigger pile
