Strip Layout for Die Design

Strip Layout for Die Design

Strip Layout for Die Design

(OP)
I am a tool die designer. I cheat by modify part surfaces with Mechanical Desktop like: draw first form and second form or over form  then I convert every thing to NX4. In NX4 I sew all the surfaces to have the solid component. I need expert advice how to do every thing with NX4. Thanks

RE: Strip Layout for Die Design

Have you looked into the progressive die wizard add on? There should be info on it on the UGS site. Also, you could "model" the strip in the same way you are doing it in mechanical desktop. I can give you better answers if you ask me more specific questions.

Thanks for your reply. My story is I work for stamping company which has SDRC and Mechanical Desktop and a contract job for another company which require NX4 die design. Because of the contract job, I have no training on progressive die wizard. I do strip layout with Mechanical Desktop, form blocks (punch and die) with SDRC and convert to NX4 and do assembly with detail drafting. I do part development by rotate surfaces, extend surfaces, trim surfaces and refillet surfaces. Should I work with surfaces the same way in NX or should I redraw part with solid?
