Can anyone point me in the direction of some good references/basic beam theory related to horizontally curved girders?

Thanks

Of course it is already checked out of the library.

The book I have is Advanced Strength and Applied Stress Analysis by Budynas.  It covers curved beams loaded in the radial direction... which structurally isn't really important.

I'm looking for something like a curved highway girder loaded transversely.

Great site.

I see they show the formulas they use, but I am interested as to how they get to those equations.

RE: Curved Girders

check out "Design of Welded Structures" by Blodgett.

RE: Curved Girders

Hi,

The reference I know is : " Estructuras Metalicas " by C. Nachtergal Ed Blume, Spain, 1969. Pages 452, 453.
The original title is " Charpentes Metalliques" - Belgium.

The equations for bendding and torsional moments are derived in this book.
