Flaring tool for nylon

Flaring tool for nylon

Flaring tool for nylon

(OP)
Hello,

I am looking for a flaring tool to be used on 3/8" OD, 0.050" walll thick nylon tubing. Does anyone know of such a tool? Is any heat source required in forming the flare on the nylon?

Rgds,
Peter

RE: Flaring tool for nylon

It's been a while since Iv'e worked with nylon
tube, but try to use compression type fittings.
I would think that a flared end would distort,
causing fatigue & weakness/failure. Too much
heat will weaken the tubing also.

RE: Flaring tool for nylon

Heat is required , but the flare tool isn't supplied with a heat source.  A hot air gun was used.  I might add that the results were NOT very encouraging.  Many tries and many failures.  We finally switched to a compression fitting with brass ferruls.  Since that time I have used a fitting that is installed without tools.  Found them being used in the spray paint system for the DC-9 in Long Beach (or whatever they call it now). You install the fitting and simply push the nylon tubing in. It stays and is useful to at least 200 psi, our working max.  Sure  wish I  could remember the names, sorry.  Maybe others will help out here.
