open iges files in solid edge

(OP)
Hi,

When i import/open a *igs file in solid edge (V19)

Solid edge convert it so i can see/read it, but i can only see the part, not the "solids" of how its build up, as i normally do in solid edge.

Second: the default view is always upside down or in a odd angle.

Is there a way to solve these problems? Can i open it in draft? so there are measurements available?

thanks Anthony

RE: open iges files in solid edge

Anthony,

in case the .igs contains a 3D-Model you may choose via
the options on how it should be converted and what template
to be used (.par/.asm). When the conversion is complete
you will usually only see a solid but no features. To have
the features you will have to checkmark the appropriate box
on the second step of the options. Then you will be given
the opportunity to use 'feature recognizer' to recover
them (when possible and if you have V19 classic). Note:
when this option is checked the part is shown in SE and
when not already done you have to activate the feature
recognizer's toolbar.
